Pebble Smart Watch Starts Shipping on Jan 23 [Gallery]
The much awaited (and delayed) smart watch of the year 2012, Pebble,
will finally be shipping to the Kickstarter backers starting January
23rd 2013. At its press conference at CES 2013 in Las Vegas, the Pebble CEO publically unveilled the smart watch and we got to play around with the watch enough as you can see in the gallery below.
The ePaper smart watch was a runaway Kickstarter success in 2012, with over $10 million in pledges from 85,000 backers across the world. The watch missed multiple shipping dates due to delays in production, resulting in furore from the backers. Being a backer myself, I heave a sigh of relief to know that Pebble will be shipping soon. Having seen and held the watch from close quarters, I feel more than happy to have waited this long!
Eric
Migicovsky confirmed that Pebble will be shipped in the order they
received pledges from Kickstarter backers. He also unveiled the
packaging for Pebble, which looks gorgeous and meticulously planned.
Also, it was revealed that Pebble will come with a magnetic charging
cable, much like Macbook & Surface tablet.
Eric also revealed that they have received several thousands pre-orders ever since they closed Kickstarter pledges. The watch can withstand wet weather conditions, including rain and snow and being submerged under water upto 5 atmospheres. There were 4 different colors of Pebble which were at display, all of which looked gorgeous. Feast your eyes with some more images below.
