Google Now Could be Coming to Chrome
All Android users have heard of Google Now,
the virtual assistant that gives its users lots of information, like
Apple’s Siri. The service is useful in many ways, due to its integration
with all the other services provided by Google, and developers are
trying to extend this functionality beyond Android devices, to Google’s
web browser, Chrome and probably Chrome OS.
For those of you who don’t know what Google Now is, or what it can do, think of Apple’s Siri. The service is a virtual assistant that can automatically gather and show you information whenever you want it. Like sports results, traffic information, calendar, birthday reminders and so on, and it also allows you to quickly search for other information on the web or in any Google service just by talking to it.
Also,
Jessica Kositz, spokesman for Google has confirmed
the rumors surrounding this upgrade, but has not committed to this
upgrade:
We certainly look forward to this implementation of Google Now in Chrome, and we hope that all the features that the virtual assistant has, will be added to the web browser.

Implementing Google Now in Chrome
The latest code release from Chromium gives us a glimpse of things to come, and we can see this in the “Log Message”, where the developers have stated:Creating a skeleton for Google Now for Chrome implementation. As we can see, the process of integrating Google Now in the Chrome browser has started, although this does not promise a fully functional virtual assistant, we can guess as to Google’s intentions.
The CL creates the top-level structure for showing Google Now cards in Chrome via Chrome Notifications.
The implementation lives behind -enable-google-now-integration flag.
We’re always experimenting with new features in Chrome, so have nothing to announce at this time,The integration of Google Now with Chrome and possibly Chrome OS is not surprising. Thanks to the system’s functionality, many would be pleased to have it on more than one device. As far as the actual integration, we could not say how much we will have to wait for it, but seeing Google Now notifications in Chrome is just the first step.
What could this service provide?
If you didn’t figure this out by now, Google Now could provide a new level of functionality to the Chrome browser, and thinking further, to the Chrome OS. Search by speech will greatly enhance Chrome, and the addition of all the other features of Google Now will begin a new age in Internet browsing. All the information that you would normally search for on the web, such as traffic information, weather, daily commute or places of interest will be automatically given to you by Google Now, with you only having to ask for it.We certainly look forward to this implementation of Google Now in Chrome, and we hope that all the features that the virtual assistant has, will be added to the web browser.
