BlackBerry Announces the Z10 and Q10 Smartphones

Thorsten Heins took the stage today and just as we’re expecting, the company, which just got rebranded as BlackBerry from RIM, announced two BlackBerry smartphones, called the BlackBerry Z10 and the BlackBerry Q10. Based on the smoothest Canadian-made platform made until now, BlackBerry 10 OS, these two new smartphones aim to conquer the market with a classic physical keyboard and the advantages of a full-screen, high resolution display.
Besides physical aspects, high attention has been given to the details and a ton of work impregnated onto the design itself, the two new BlackBerry smartphones may be considered just a wonderful package to deliver a wonderful experience, provided and supplied by the new software platform and composed by the hardware gimmicks.

BlackBerry, former known as RIM, has delayed the introduction of a new-generation device mainly because the market was too crowded with Android phones and probably, because their internal situation was not so bright. I remember that in a past interview given by BB’s CEO, Heins said that they’ve taken the time to build a wonderful product, without rushing into with an empty hand. Well, the time of unveiling has come, and just as we expected, two distinct devices meant for different people were introduced today.

The first member of the new BlackBerry 10 stable is the BlackBerry Z10, a powerful full-touch device which has an elongated display that covers a wide proportion of its slim, beautiful body. Developers have aimed the usual competition with this baby, and although they are heavily betting on technical specifications to attract the crowd, there are more hidden underneath.
For instance, the 4.2-inch wide screen packed by the BlackBerry Z10 is a size which may be seen as perfect, by more than a few. As it was demonstrated on the stage, this size will allow people to easily browse, navigate, play and even type a message just with their thumb. Pairing this with a crisp, 365 PPI quality, may make some reconsider purchasing the next iPhone.
The BlackBerry Z10 comes in two color variants, black and white, and I never thought I would be saying this, but the white one really looks good. Both versions use a glass back solely made for BlackBerries which you will not encounter on any other smartphone on the market. It is lighter, durable and more good-looking than plastic.

The Q, as we like to call it, is the QWERTY option of all physical lovers. Although the event itself lacked applause until one point, everybody echoed at the sight of a classic keyboard. The BlackBerry Q10 has a 3.1-inch wide touchscreen display that can render content under a crisp, 330 PPI pixel density resolutions and a full-state physical keyboard designed by the best on the market.
Although not many technical details were given about this second member, we know that the BlackBerry Q10 has a glass-weave cover that makes the phone really comfortable to hold and has a size similar to the legacy BB 9900, a model well loved.
We still await to see the actual pricing, which will vary from carrier to carrier across the world. Heins hinted that in US, the BlackBerry Z10 might be priced at around $149 with a 3-year contract. Also, he announced that Z10 will come to Canada first on Feb 5th, followed by UK & Middle East on Feb 10th.
Update: Initial reports say that Z10 will be priced at around AED 2,599 (~$700) in UAE for the unsubsidized and unlocked version.
