The official iOS 6.0/6.1 evasiOn jailbreak tool has finally been released for all iOS devices including iPhone 5, iPad 4 and iPad mini (excluding the third-gen Apple TV). The high profile Evad3rs iOS jailbreaking group, comprising of big names like pod2g and musclenerd, have released this free tool online.
eVasi0n will work for Linux, Mac and Windows systems and is available for download at evasi0n website right now. Several users are reporting errors, but that’s expected, as several users were waiting with bated breath to jailbreak their iPhone 5′s.

As always, let me warn you that, take a plunge only if you know what you are upto. Though Jailbreaking is legal, you need to follow some steps to ensure you don’t end up bricking your device. Here are some important steps as suggested by Evad3rs themselves.
  • Backup your iOS device using iTunes or iCloud before using evasi0n. This way you are sure to never lose any data if something wrong happens.
  • Please disable the lock passcode of your iOS device before using evasi0n. It can cause issues.
  • Be patient while the jailbreaking process is running, don’t start iTunes or Xcode in the meanwhile. The best is to not touch the computer until the end of the jailbreaking process.
evasi0n supports iOS 6.0, 6.0.1, 6.0.2 and 6.1 firmwares and ALL iOS devices including iPhone 5 and iPad mini (except 3rd gen Apple TV). Here is a brief guide on how to jailbreak your iDevice with evasi0n tool.

Guide to Jailbreak your iDevice with evasi0n

1. Download evasi0n tool for your system using the links above.
2. Ensure you have at least iOS 6 running on your iDevice.
3. Make sure you switch off passcode for your lockscreen.
4. Ensure iTunes and xcode are not running.
5. Start evasi0n jailbreak tool. Connect your iDevice to PC or Mac.
6. Click on Jailbreak button and wait for the tool to complete the jailbreak.
8. Once complete, you will find Jailbreak app on the home screen. Tap on this and wait for it to go back to the home screen.
9. An automated process will follow, and the phone will reboot. You should find Cydia installed on the home screen.
Update: If you are stuck at “Patching Kernel” for more than 5 mins, simply restart your iPhone (Home+Power). You should see Cydia.
